The Assistant Dean for Nursing in the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing (CMSON) will provide strong and innovative leadership and sound fiscal and personnel management for the school in support of the University’s mission and strategic plan. The Assistant Dean will ensure academic excellence by adhering to regulatory and accreditation requirements and by responding to changes in health care practices to ensure graduates are competent to practice in a changing environment. The Assistant Dean of Nursing is responsible for maintaining the relevance and rigor of all nursing programs (undergraduate, graduate and online programs) to align with expectations of Walker College of Health Professions and Maryville University. The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of the Walker College of Health Professions. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a welcoming environment for a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

Role Responsibilities:
• Provides oversight of CMSON planning, coordination and evaluation, in coordination with the Assistant Directors of Nursing
• Serves as a member of the WCHP Director’s Council, chairs the nursing Faculty Assembly meetings, attends all meetings of standing committees with and serves on other University committees as assigned
• Provides leadership in the selection, retention, promotion and development of faculty
• Provides oversight for the management of the resources and facilities assigned to the program, including managing all budget requests, as well as seeking sources of outside funding, such as grants, donations or contracts in collaboration with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations
• Oversees communication with program alumni and facilitate communication and cooperation with other programs in WCHP and the University
• Oversees the collection and distribution of academic information for external agencies and ensures compliance with state, accreditation and licensing organizations
• Develops and supports external relationships in order to strategically plan for new online nursing programs and provide input to existing programs
• Researches and develops new online nursing programs
• Provides general oversight and management of the nursing online program for academic integrity and quality control
• Works collaboratively with appropriate faculty and others to review and approve overall curriculum of online nursing programs
• Works with the Director of NP Programs, Coordinator of the DNP program and the Operations Managers to appoint lead course faculty for graduate online courses
• Oversees the integration of the online nursing program within the university and the nursing program’s other functional areas
• Assures compliance of online programs with regional and professional accreditation criteria, as well as appropriate state boards of nursing approvals
• Responsible for coordination and implementation of Inter-Professional Education (IPE) modules into program curriculum
• Facilitates an Advisory Council to provide feedback and review of nursing programs.
• Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Walker College of Health Professions

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate in Nursing or related field
• Master’s in Nursing
• Minimum of five years of academic administrative experience and five years clinical experience
• Minimum of five years’ experience in nursing education within last ten years
• Current unencumbered Missouri RN licensure

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Nursing
