Job Summary/Basic Function
Maryville University is accepting applications for a Learning Designer within the School of Adult and Online Education. The successful candidate will become part of an established learning design team responsible for partnering with faculty and Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to design and develop online course materials centered in student engagement and instructionally sound learning practices. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff and students.Responsibilities:
• Rapidly design and develop interactive, competency or performance-based learning and professional development• Ensure learning experiences that fully meet the needs of students, faculty, and/or clients, while adhering to the standards of Maryville University• Provide technical and pedagogical assistance throughout the design, development and implementation of online courses• Participate in the full course life cycle• Work closely with internal and external partners to design learning experiences for varied audiences• Develop learning experiences through writing, editing, creating, and updating content, imagery, and interactive learning components• Consult with University personnel and partners to determine learning needs• Research, recommend, and test appropriate media and methods for learning• Participate in the review/evaluation/assessment process to determine course effectiveness• Other relevant duties as assigned

• Proven instructional design and development experience within the area of professional development, workforce education, and online training• Proven effective experience working and consulting with subject matter experts and all levels of internal and external partners• Strong understanding of the principles of UI and UX as it relates to the development of learning experiences.• Knowledge of current techniques, tools and procedures used in the design, development, and evaluation of technology-enhanced and online courses and programs• Proven ability to lead and develop projects throughout the full project life cycle (concept-storyboard-final product)• Ability to lead sessions with SMEs and stakeholders to analyze needs and map business requirements to learning programs; comfortable creating design documents that will achieve the defined program needs• Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of graphic design elements and tools appropriate for online instruction• Demonstrated advanced experience developing e-learning solutions using common authoring tools (for example, Articulate, Captivate, Photoshop, Presenter)• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with deadlines• Adheres to timelines and project management processes that support development• Prior experience working with audio/video producers, e-learning developers, and third-party vendors• Experience working with inclusive and diverse content and populations• Needs assessment, gap analysis, content alignment (matching instructional strategies to expected learning outcomes), content creation and curation, formative and summative feedback• Ability to lead sessions with SMEs and stakeholders to analyze needs and map business requirements to learning programs• Strong, effective written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to produce clearly written learning materials and articulate key concepts in a clear, succinct manner• Excellent interpersonal skills• Ability to work collaboratively• Strong research, content analysis, and content preparation skills• Solid foundation in instructional design, adult learning theory, and universal design• Must be enterprising, diplomatic, and proactive at solving problems• Proven ability to continually adapt and learn new procedures and software programs• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS and current online development tools• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design or related area• 3-5 years in an instructional design role with progressive responsibility
• Master’s degree in instructional design or related area
