Job Summary/Basic Function

Our vision is to be the innovative leader in higher education promoting a revolution in student learning that expands access and opportunities for all.The Deputy Chief of Staff will support the work of the Chief of Staff and the operations of the President’s Office. This work includes coordination of and collaboration on major office and University-wide initiatives and events, project management, and communications in order to advance the goals and the strategic plan of the University. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff and students.Key Responsibilities:• Represent the President’s Office in coordinating a variety of campus events including but not limited to convocations, commencement, award ceremonies, and other university-wide events• Assist the Chief of Staff with specialized and confidential duties for the Board of Trustees including assisting with planning and execution of meetings and retreats, responding to Trustee requests, and other-related tasks• Assists in maintaining internal websites and Teams sites for the Board of Trustees, leadership team, and project teams• Coordinates with individuals across campus to gather data and information and conducts external research as needed to support projects and office needs • Prepare and/or contributes to the preparation of reports, proposals, briefings, and presentations• Serves as a liaison or representative to various committees and project teams to provide guidance and establish expectations to meet timelines and goals• Accurately represent the President’s position and direction to other leaders• Represent the President’s Office at meetings when President and Chief of Staff are unavailable• Assist in drafting and coordinating communications from the President’s Office• Carries out special projects as assigned• Serve on search committees as needed• Provide back-up support to the Executive Assistant to the President
• Bachelor’s degree• Knowledge of Apple technology and Microsoft Office Suite• Experience in providing support to executive level personnel• Curiosity around emerging trends, embraces change, and adapts to an evolving work environment • Demonstrated ability to exercise diplomacy, good judgement, discretion and maintain confidentiality at the highest level• Proven ability to work calmly under pressure, maintain flexibility, and work collaboratively within a team• Extraordinary organizational skills including efficient management of time and resources to achieve goals within timelines and budgets• Appreciation for the challenges of supporting the work of the President’s Office and ability to adhere to strict professional standards• Exceptional communication, writing and editing skills; ability to compose and critique proper communications and other materials• Demonstrated experience prioritizing, planning, coordinating and directing multiple projects and activities with varied deadlines• Ability to view projects and tasks through a strategic lens and with a future orientation• Seeks opportunities for improvement and innovation • Bias for execution, ability to manage details, anticipate needs and drive others to produce results
• Previous experience in higher education, government or similarly complex organization• Previous project management experience
