Job Summary/Basic Function
The Director of Curricular Innovation and Assessment will provide leadership for the School of Business regarding innovative curriculum ideas and design, integration of technology and business disciplines, online curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, and documentation of student learning. The Director will work with the Dean, Assistant Deans, program directors, and faculty to identify key curricular trends for cutting-edge business education; facilitate innovative curricular development and implementation, and coordinate assessment initiatives and report writing. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a welcoming environment for a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.Essential Responsibilities:Innovative Curriculum Ideas and Design• Research, identify, and share key trends and innovative ideas for curriculum innovation to integrate academic disciplines, technology, and interpersonal skills in the SSOB• Work with the faculty to clarify key mindsets and skillsets for all courses• Work with business partners to focus on real-world problem-solving and experiential learning opportunities• Serve as primary liaison with SAOE to facilitate up-to-date online curriculum development/delivery (current content, current course materials, innovative delivery, cutting-edge technology, problem-based projects and assignments, etc.)
Integration of Academic Disciplines with Technology and Interpersonal Skills• Work with Assistant Deans, Program Directors, and the faculty to build courses that integrate academic content, discipline-focused technology, and interpersonal skills • Work with the faculty to implement new ideas/strategies to develop students’ mindsets and skillsets for all courses• Work with CTL and Director of Faculty Development to facilitate full-time and adjunct faculty professional development to re-design and deliver SSOB courses• Work with faculty to identify course materials that support their innovative curriculum
Assessment• Work with faculty to map course assignments with course-specific learning outcomes• Work with faculty to map course learning outcomes to overall program outcomes• Conduct student learning assessment work to document student learning across SSOB programs• Conduct constituent surveys of their experience with Maryville (industry partners, students, faculty, etc.)• Prepare assessment reports to use for accreditation, external funding, and partnership opportunities
SSOB Leadership Team• Serve in a leadership role for the Simon School of Business regarding all matters related to the School• Provide advice, input, and recommendations regarding policy and procedures associated with Curriculum Innovation, Design, and Delivery, and Assessment procedures, engagement, and implementation • Other duties as assigned, including monitoring the collection and maintenance of appropriate learning outcome data.
• A minimum of a Master’s degree in business or related area.• Understanding of undergraduate and graduate curriculum within the School of Business• Knowledge of online education• Knowledge of school organization and needs• Understanding of University full-time and adjunct faculty needs • Knowledge of computer-based data management and spreadsheet programs• Understanding of the structure of learning outcome assessment systems• Assessment survey development, implementation, and data analysis • Ability to conduct research and trend analysis regarding curriculum• Ability to work in a team setting• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external constituencies in a variety of delivery systems.• Ability to organize and analyze data and multiple demands• Ability to multi-task and flexibly to respond to interruptions
