Maryville University is seeking a Director of Residential Life to oversee a campus population of approximately 1,000 residents spread across 11 campus residential facilities. The Director serves as a member of the Division for Student Life (DSL) leadership team, reporting to the Dean of Students. This highly collaborative role requires a high level of discretion and initiative in order to accomplish goals established under the University and DSL missions. The Director is expected to be innovative and to anticipate needs, exercise urgency in the completion of responsibilities, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for students, faculty, and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
University Housing Operations
Crisis Management and Student Conduct
The Director of Residential Life will directly supervise two (20) professional Residential Life Coordinators, two (2) graduate assistants, and indirectly supervise 40+ student employees assigned to the Residential Life Office. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding accomplishments; addressing inappropriate behavior; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
The Director of Residential Life is a full-time, 12-month live-off position with some evening and weekend work required. Job functions are primarily performed in a fast-paced, indoor environment frequently requiring multi-task functioning. Will work within standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Lifting and moving items may be required. Required lifting may be broken down into less heavy, manageable components. Movement to and from other departments/buildings on campus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
