Job Summary/Basic Function

 

Maryville University is looking for a talented learning designer to join its team. The successful applicant will join a fast-moving, innovative team developing courseware for academic learners and professional development for external corporate clients. The team uses an array of rapid development tools, along with Instructure Canvas.

In addition to proven design experience, exceptional relationship-building and collaboration skills are essential to success. Candidates will be required to submit a link to their professional portfolio. The interview process will include a short presentation. The presentation will ask how you would approach the design of content that has been provided for the development for an established course. The goal of the presentation is to understand how you would approach conversations in the work we do every day.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven ability to:
• Lead and develop design projects throughout the full project life cycle (concept-storyboard-final product)
• Lead sessions with faculty, SMEs, and/or stakeholders to analyze needs and map business requirements to learning programs; comfortable creating design documents that will achieve the defined program needs
• Match instructional strategies to expected learning outcomes, identify gaps in course development, identify skills necessary for learner success, identify skills learned through learning
• Work effectively and efficiently through the content creation and curation process; Create formative and summative feedback activities
• Perform in a fast-paced environment with deadlines; adhere to timelines and project management processes that support development
• Create advanced online learning solutions using Canvas and common authoring tools (for example, Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, Photoshop)
• Effectively leverage artificial intelligence in the creation of authentic learning experiences and learner support resources
• Research, write, and analyze content in consideration of outcomes or KPIs to produce written learning materials and articulate key concepts in a clear, concise manner
• Provide compassionate feedback to team members and work collaboratively with diverse and remote team members
• Work with inclusive and diverse content and populations
• Approach work through an innovative mindset, seeking to stretch the boundaries of learning
• Be enterprising, diplomatic, and take the initiative to solve problems through a learner-focused, critical-thinking approach
• Be or become highly experienced with the teaching and development tools of Canvas
• Be or become highly experienced with effective Competency-Based Learning, adaptive learning, task analysis, skills identification, self-contained portable learning objects/units
• Be or become highly experienced with the use of artificial intelligence to support learning, course development, and content creation
• Approach work through a service mindset, seeking to ensure learner success
