Job Summary/Basic Function

 

We are looking for a new Director of Student Accessibility, Support, & Success to join our vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to empowering every student to achieve their full potential. The Director of Student Accessibility, Support, & Success will lead and coordinate effective student disability services, including the determination of appropriate documentation and accommodations. They will also be in charge of leading academic support initiatives and accessibility improvements for online and on-campus student populations and will assist in supervising the Coordinator of Student Accessibility, Support, and Success.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Coordinate effective disability support services, including review of student documentation, identification of appropriate accommodations, oversight of testing policies, procedures, logistics, and operations for the division, and the need for adaptive technology and equipment.
• Provide guidance and training to the campus community on ADA compliance; navigate complex situations and provide recommendations for actions in line with ADA law and OCR rulings; Build partnerships across campus to evaluate compliance regularly.
• Oversee all testing center staff and processes including make-up testing, CLEP testing, testing for accommodated students, and scheduling testing center hours
• Led the University in its effort to cultivate awareness and appreciation of individuals with disabilities through efforts including but not limited to chairing the accessibility committee, leading Disability Awareness Week, and serving on the Tunnel of Consciousness committee.
• Implement effective active and passive academic success programming through workshops, digital signage, app suggestions and targeted communication to support students’ academic success at Maryville.
• Research, maintain awareness, and educate the campus community on emerging trends in disability support in higher education.
• Serve as the CLEP testing administrator for Maryville for CLEP testing

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act
• Knowledge of how to interpret disability-related documentation, psychological and educational assessment reports
• Knowledge of technology (Apple/iPad, Symplicity Accommodate, Microsoft Suite)
• Knowledge of academic success strategies
• Experience and sensitivity in working with people with disabilities Administrative, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously Strong team-member
• Demonstrated commitment to student success. Appreciation for global and cultural diversity
• Communication skills: written, verbal, listening, technical, and presentation competency
• Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Preferred
• Ability to work evenings and during occasional weekend events
